Hi dearest blog friends, it's been such a long time since I wrote a proper post... So much has been going on, after I quit my job, got married, started my tiny design business. Pfew, all in a couple of months! Now I just want to enjoy my new life! :-)
In a week, I'll be going to Paris for two weeks to work more freely (thanks Fleur, for the opportunity!). I have so many thoughts and ideas but only little time to execute them so this trip will be great for that. One of the things I am very excited about is a book I will be making with my photographer father. We will be shooting in Paris, can't wait for that.
Then some things I did recently. I wrote an essay on one of my favorite designers Bruno Munari. I couldn't resist making a little book for it, inspired by one of his works "One thing leads to another". I case you are interested in reading about Munari, I bought a great book on him: "Air made visible", edited by Claude Lichtenstein and Alfredo Haeberli. It's a tip I got from Alessandro Colizzi, who is preparing a thesis on Munari.

Then some free works. Origami birds have been a favorite theme for me the last couple of weeks. Really, all origami animals, or better: all things folded. It's like adding my own fantasy layer to photographs. The same goes for the jewelry stars. I fact, that might well be a theme for the book I will be making with my father.
I have been getting so many super sweet emails and messages that I have not responded to yet. I will I will! And I have not been visiting my favorite blogs in a long thing. AND... I know I said I wanted to open a printshop in September and it's already November and no printshop! I have some other ideas that I would like to work out first, like the book and maybe something else? Then I have been so focused on my freelance client work for now. I'll see what the future brings, and Paris too! The best thing is, I can plan everything myself and plan it as fun and stress free as possible. So that's what I'll do :-)
Have a lovely weekend, all of you -
xxx Marieke
