Yesterday when I came home there was an envelope on the doormat, with (see post below) 33 extremely cheerful stamps on it. My sweet friend Veronica suprised me with a thank you package after winning my little 2nd journal competition. This lovely card was in it. And she also included a fashion magazine, some tags, post it notes and a leaf punch (I am a sucker for foreign magazines, office supplies and leafs which obviously, Veronica knows). Merci à tu, Veronica! Posted by Picasa

So, I am really counting on Louise to find the ultimate time machine. Working days days + four evenings of school is quite busy, but so much less tiring as I expected it to be. [I will keep my daily journal OF COURSE, but posting it online might take some days, once in a while, as you might have noticed.]

All the worries I had before... It has been officially proven again that worrying is in fact the most useless acticty ever. My new life is just quite excellent. I feel really happy to be able to develop myself and learn in a demanding creative environment, without leaving the comforting structure, dryness and intellectual environment of my job. (And ok, the euro's too :-)) In fact, I might have created ideal circumstances for me at this time of my life. Which makes me quite happy.

More hapiness:

I had such little time the last few days, so I could not even report earlier about Jeroen's birthday on Saturday. He thought we were going to visit family on Saturday, mais non! At 06:00 I woke up mon cheri for a SURPRISE. I planned the whole thing in July so it was terribly hard to keep it a secret, me getting extremely excited about surprises (organizing AND receiving). I told him my plans by giving an artwork by Parisian artist Christine Thouzeau that he saw and mentioned in July, walking past a tiny gallery in Quartier Latin.

Then, we headed to the train station to get the 07:00 train to Paris. Ofcourse not without a proper petit déjeuner (this photo is very much styled, hehe)... Champagne? Bien sûr! Kind of hard to take at that hour, both having a hangover from Friday night, but popping the bottle just brings on a festive mood.

Then we had lunch at Benoît. I recommend this bistro to everyone going to Paris. It's so lovely. The food is just heavenly and the service is amazing. We both ordered a surprise menu and although I cannot even recall all the names of lovely plates, I will just say it was a wonderful taste experience.

Then we walked through the city. Taking pictures of lovely things one just encounters in Paris, and of course a visit to Colette. Just strolling the streets of Paris I came across a wonderful designer named Jay Ahr. He does not have a website with pictures yet, but I will keep an eye on it and link to it again when he does. The dresses he made were so wonderfully simple and tasteful.

Because of the wonderful summer weather, we decided to head to the Tuileries and just enjoy the amazing summer weather. The last hours in Paris we spent in Quartier Latin visiting galleries and just enjoying the city. Of course, way too soon we had to head back to the station. But a bon anniversaire, it was. Posted by Picasa

Today, I had my second class of "optical grammatical studies". The assignment was a non figurative portrait of one of your classmates as I mentioned before. Making one (see below) was fun, but receiving one (above) was lots of fun too.

In Sophie's portrait of me (on a vintage card) you can see a diveboard for me, taking the big plunge indeed after hmm... five years of studying and three years of working to be precies. For what? Doing something new and exciting...

I made a moodboard with elements Sophie told me about. Sewing, her business Ontwerpkliniek Pets, House, friend Iteke, being Eenentwintig (21) years old. The first letters, yes, make the portraitee's name.
