More little treasures... Yesterday, I read about Fred Flare having paper sillouettes made in Paris. And today, I came across this artist, who makes the greatest paper cut-outs. He even started a project where he "cuts out" every person in his village.
This weekend I received the great design Sabine made for me. We did a little Illustration Swap together - and I am glad we did! The first real Treats-work! (see the logo :-)) I will make sure I find a great spot for it in my "working area".Oh, and she included some great vintage goodies too. Magazines (70's, great inspiration), beautiful brooches, charms, molds - just perfect. And some cards made by her design office too! Thank you, Sabine!
And this is what I made.

(Finally my feeds are working. If you use Bloglines, you can use the button on the right side.)
Coming home after a week of vacation, there were three great suprises. First, seeing J with his "new" eyes (he had his eyes lasered when I was away). I was so nervous before, but he sees very clearly now and never has to worry about lenses and glasses. In fact, when he got his eyes tested the other day, the result was 150%, haha. I have not quite figured out how you can see 150% but I am very relieved...
Then, there was a huge amount of snail mail! A beautiful print by Camilla, lovely cards by Chiemi, colorful stickers by Marilyn, two very inspiring zines by Gracia and Louise (with extra stamps - thank you two!), the new tree card by Mav and Lisa... But the piece the resistence was definitely a HUGE box, the result of a swap I did with my dear Scottish blogger friend Abigail. "Dig for treasures", she wrote on it, and I sure did! The box was filled with the loveliest goodies ever. Everything a journal keeper like me could hope for in fact... Not only did she include all kinds of lovely papers, also there was a vintage tin included with sea China and an antique copper pressing from Paris! Also, a vintage letraset, vintage paper cut outs from Prague and vintage collector's cards and postcards. To be short, just everything I like.
I don't know where to start using them. Thanks Abigail, for a huge big stack of inspiration.
Then the third suprise for which J made good use of his "new" eyes. On my desk he put this beautiful bouquet of peonies. My favorite flowers (next to anemones), like I said before. And not only mine, judging by all the comments and posts about these special roses. It is just too hot here for them, so I am afraid they will not last very long, but by photographing them I can at least enjoy them longer - in two dimensions.
I don't know where to start using them. Thanks Abigail, for a huge big stack of inspiration.

Tanned and rested I finally found an Internet cafe in Slovenia. Only after I found out there is wireless internet in the house we are staying... The World Cup has in fact started some minutes ago and here I am in a dark smelly cafe with a keyboard very sticky from beer - at least I hope it is beer! :-)
After the wonderful wedding of my friend Limore last Sunday, which kept me occupied for weeks being part of the "wedding staff" as we call it in Dutch, I was in such a hurry to get packed so I did not even post about leaving for a week! Bad blogger!!! Funny that I got so used to blogging, posting messages, reading comments, reading all your wonderful blogs that I really miss it. Even though this vacation is great of course. Slovenia is such a wonderful suprise. I did not know what to expect, but we found it a very friendly, beautiful and comfortable little country. I highly recommend it! It is an interesting mix of cultures and the people here are just very nice. We have not met one rude person...
Also, it is the first vacation with mum, dad and sister since my mother got a stroke three years ago and got in wheelchair. So it is quite special to us. The reason why we went to Slovenia is that my friends have a house here and one of them is in a wheelchair too, so everything is extremely "wheelie friendly", and we even got the friendliest nurse coming every morning to help my mom get dressed.
I am continuing working in my journal, so when I get back next Sunday, I will have loads of new posts. And pictures of course... In fact, tomorrow we are visiting Venice by boat. Hope this will be as great as I expect it to be, full of photogenic spots and... some shopping too!
So long blogger friends. I secretly admit that I do look forward to catching up on all your great blogs!
